Great news for Inflammatory Bowel Disease sufferers (IBD) or those wanting to optimise their gut health.
A recent randomised control trial has shown that Kefir may modulate microbes in your gut, reduce bloating and improve your quality of life.
What is Kefir?
Kefir is a fermented milk product, made by the people of central Eurasia. Within this region Kefir is prized for it’s health benefits - with the word Kefir translating to “feel good”.
It contains a vast array of microbes, that have been shown to populate the gut. Having the right balance of microbes in your gut may help to treat a range of different health issues, improve your mood and manage weight.
The study was published in the Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology in January 2019. The researchers found Kefir to modulate gut microbiota, with regular consumption improving IBD patient's quality of life within the 4 week period.
