What Is Tallow?
Tallow is rendered down beef fat that is sourced from around the kidneys and organs (called suet and caul fat). If you are familiar with Lard, it is much the same except sourced from beef instead of pigs. This makes it a much richer fat with a better fat profile than lard.
The fat is slowly rendered down at low temperatures so as to not overheat the fat and then strained and poured directly into jars in its rendered form. Once it cools it becomes solid at room temperature due to the high saturated fat content in it. This makes it extraordinarily stable and long lasting.
Where is Your Tallow Sourced From?
All of our tallow is sourced from our partner, Provenir, who works directly with local Australian regenerative farmers across NSW and VIC. You can see the actual farms and farmers that we work with on their website here.
Is Your Tallow Organic?
Technically all of our products are organic as none of the farms we source from use any chemicals like herbicides and pesticides. However, because we work with multiple small local farmers which can’t logistically afford the organic certifications, we are not certified organic.
But rest assured, as all our farms are regenerative, they likely have even better standards than organic farms because they don’t need any chemical input to maintain their farms (unlike organic farms which are technically still allowed to use small amounts of chemicals).
Is Your Tallow Halal Certified?
Unfortunately due to the cost and logistical difficulties of Halal certification, our products are not Halal certified.
Can You Use Your Tallow For Skin Care?
Yes, absolutely! Many of our customers use our tallow for their own skin care as a chemical free solution.
The tallow does have a bit of a beefy smell, so you may want to mix it with other oils like Jojoba, Coconut or Shea.
It may also help to warm the tallow and whip it slightly in the cooler months as it does become quite solid in colder temperatures.

Does Tallow Need to be Refridgerated?
As tallow is rendered fat it is very shelf stable and doesn’t need to be refrigerated. However, you can refrigerate it to get an even longer life out of it, just keep in mind it will harder quite a bit if doing so.
